Through this conference and exhibition, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment aims to develop a waste management system and promote environmental awareness by shedding light on the most recent waste management methods which seek produce energy, fertilizers and recyclable materials. It also seeks to promote community participation in environment protection and encourage investment in this field. This conference and exhibition attract many governmental and private institutions and international and regional bodies to see and learn about the latest technology in waste management, treatment and disposal.
This international event provides an opportunity to keep up with the latest waste management technologies, including domestic and solid waste, construction and demolition waste, water and soil waste, waste from oil, gas and petrochemical projects, as well as hazardous, medical and sanitation waste.
The waste problem is one of the major environmental problems that are receiving increasing attention from various countries around the world, not only for its harmful effects on public health and the environment and its impact on urban scene, but also for its social and economic effects, especially in light of the high population rates, rapid growth in the industrial sector and economic expansion.
Thanks to the insightful vision of our government, the State of Qatar has developed a comprehensive strategy to deal with all types of waste, whether resulting from residential, commercial and industrial sites, or the construction industry and other economic sectors, and has adopted a comprehensive plan to manage these wastes and recycle it through the establishment of a waste management and treatment center Which is one of the largest centers in the region.
Organizing the first waste management conference comes within the framework of the great attention that the Ministry of Municipal and Environment pays towards developing its services in order to preserve and protect the environment and achieve sustainable development, in implementation of the Ministry’s sustainable strategy and in accordance with the national development strategy and Qatar National Vision 2030.
The event represents a platform for various international approaches and expertise in waste management, and a melting pot in which different visions and ideas are fused, to contribute to formulating effective solutions for the prevention of waste hazards, recycling and energy generation.
We look forward to distinguished contributions from governmental and semi-governmental institutions and private sector companies in the various waste management conference sessions and we invite them to take advantage of the many opportunities offered by the event to participate in the future of waste management and recycling industry.
